Disaster Relief

Noonday Baptist Association has two Disaster Relief Units:

GA13R: This is a Clean-up and Recovery Unit that assists families who have been impacted by disasters. The disaster response deals with the aftermath of damage from wind, water, ice, and other causes.

GA6F: This is a Feeding Unit that assists families and individuals who are impacted by disasters by providing meals in a shelter, or at a "feeding site". This unit responds by meeting basic needs.

Status: GREEN

Intro/Recertification Training is for those persons who:
                                                            1. Want to learn about Disaster Relief or,

                                                            2. Are already trained and need to be recertified, which is required every 3 years.

(Training Fees if paid by registation deadline: Recertification = $15, First Time Attendee attending for the first time to learn more about Disaster Relief = FREE.)

Phase 1 Training is required for all volunteers. At this training you will receive an introduction to the Disaster Relief Ministry of Georgia Baptists as well as hands-on training in one of the five ministry areas. Phase 1 trainings are held each January, February, and March in preparation for the storm season. (Training Fees if paid by registation deadline: Phase 1=$40, Recertification = $20, Cross-training in another Ministry Area = $40.)

Phase 2 Training is designed for volunteers who sense the Lord leading them to become involved in this ministry at a leadership level. (Training Fees = $35. Additional charges may occur. See registration form for details.)

Unit Director GA13R

GA13R has been activated to help people in Nashville, Tennessee, in response to the flooding in their area. No sooner than having stood down from our alert status for the North Georgia storms, we are called upon to respond to the flood in our neighboring state to the North.

We plan for each team to serve for five days, including travel time to and from the disaster area. For each team we need someone to tow the unit and additional members. Please pray about your involvement and that God will prepare the hearts of the people we will serve to be receptive to His love as expressed by our service.

Our tentative schedule is:

      Team 1      May 11 – 15      Murl Bishop – Blue Hat

      Team 2      May 14 – 18      Jeff carter – Blue Hat

      Team 3      May 17 – 21      Shirl – Blue Hat
